Early on after I joined the team at Connexus Church, I was travelling with Carey Nieuwhof when he turned to me and commented, “You don’t look for the limelight do you?” I said “No” rather routinely as it was a fair assessment and I knew that wasn’t the way I was wired.
Now, not seeking the limelight doesn’t mean I avoid the public square, or large groups either. Over the years I’ve spoken to large crowds and sung to even larger (but we won’t go there today).
And not seeking the limelight doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate being recognized for my contribution along the way.
It does mean that “putting myself out there” by sharing something that I have created or contributed to can be a bit nerve-wracking. But that’s true for most people regardless of who they are I think. Especially in today’s climate, having a voice, making a statement or even having an opinion can have unforeseen consequences.
But today, I want to let you know that I am writing another book, which should come out in September 2023; and I’m letting you know because I’ll be honest, in spite of my reluctance, fear of how you or anyone might respond, and my preference to remain in the background, I’m really, really excited to share this book with you and put it out into the world.
Why?
Because it’s written for the person who feels stuck in their current circumstances and who is asking big questions like…
Q. Who am I really?
Q. Why am I here?
Q. What do I bring to the table?
Q. Can I live a meaningful life?
Q. What difference can I make in this world, in my world?
I think some of the fallout (or blessing) of the past few years is more people seem to be hitting the pause button, taking stock of their personal lives and asking these significant questions.
That’s what I believe my book will do for you…help you ask these questions and discover the best answers too.
I will share more about my book over the coming months as I anticipate its publication this Fall and I hope by then I’ve convinced you to pick up a copy for yourself and someone you care about.
So, in spite of my fear and trepidation, I’m letting you know about the book I am most excited to share with you.
More to come!
